Troubleshooting

Fixes for the most common problems with times, emails and the form.

A day shows no free times

  • Check its opening hours and days off (Settings → Schedule).
  • Minimum notice hides times too soon; Booking window hides days too far ahead (Settings → General).
  • The service's length must fit inside an opening range, and its buffer time must be free too.
  • With One at a time, any booking makes its time busy for every service.
  • In the calendar, a crossed-out day is fully booked; a greyed-out one is closed or outside the booking window.

Times are an hour off

Set your time zone under Settings → General to a city, not a UTC offset. Bookings already made keep their real moment; they show in the new time zone.

Customers don't get emails

Bookline uses WordPress's own mail function. If password reset emails don't arrive either, install an SMTP plugin. Each booking's history shows "Email sent" for every email that went out; check the email is switched on under Settings → Emails.

"This page has expired. Please reload it."

The form's security token is older than a day, usually because a page was left open overnight. Reloading fixes it. If it happens a lot, your cache may be keeping the page for more than 12 hours: shorten its lifetime.

"Too many booking attempts"

A visitor (or many people sharing one IP address, as in an office) went over Booking attempts per hour. Raise it, or set 0 to turn the limit off. Behind a proxy or CDN, all visitors may seem to share its address; a developer can return the real one with the bookline_client_ip filter.

"Lots of people are booking right now"

The booking waited 10 seconds for others to finish saving and gave up, which only happens on very busy or slow sites. The customer can simply try again.

The form looks wrong in my theme

The form takes the theme's styles for fields and buttons. Most themes need nothing; if yours styles forms unusually, add CSS for the .bookline-form classes in Appearance → Customize → Additional CSS (classic themes) or the Site Editor (block themes).

The link opens on the Booking page (Settings → General). Set it to the page with the form.
