Troubleshooting
What to check when the folder panel doesn't show, dragging doesn't work, or counts look wrong.
I don't see the folder panel
- It's on Media → Library only (plus the folder filter in media pickers). Folders for posts and pages are part of Folderline Pro.
- You need to be able to upload files. Contributors and subscribers don't get the panel.
- If you hid it, click the Folders button next to the page title.
- On a narrow window the panel folds away: use the Folders button.
- Check the browser console for errors from other plugins. A JavaScript error on the page can stop every script after it.
Dragging doesn't do anything
- Drop the file on a folder's name in the tree; the folder is outlined when you're over it. All files isn't a drop target.
- You can only put files in folders you may change, and only move files you're allowed to edit.
- Some touch devices don't support dragging. Use the Folder field in a file's details, or the Move to folder bulk action in the list view.
A file I uploaded isn't in the folder
Uploads go into the folder that was open when you uploaded. Images dropped straight into the block editor, and files added by other plugins, go into the default folder from Media → Folder Settings, or stay unsorted. Move them with the Folder field.
The counts look wrong
With Include subfolders ticked, a folder's count includes its subfolders' files; without it, only its own. Trashed files aren't counted. If you imported files with a tool that writes to the database directly, WordPress may not have updated its counts: moving any file into and out of the folder recounts it.
A media picker has no folder filter
The filter is added to WordPress's own media window. A plugin that opens a media picker of its own making won't have it. Check that the picker shows WordPress's type and date filters; if it does and the folder filter is missing, look for a JavaScript error in the browser console.
Everything shows in one folder after I switch views
Folderline remembers the folder you had open, in both grid and list view. Click All files to see everything.
