Getting started

Requirements

The WordPress, WooCommerce and PHP versions Stockpool needs, and the store setups it works with.

  • WordPress 6.5 or later (tested up to 7.1)
  • WooCommerce 8.8 or later (tested up to 11.1), active; WordPress won't activate Stockpool without it
  • PHP 7.4 or later
  • WooCommerce stock management turned on (WooCommerce → Settings → Products → Inventory → Enable stock management). Without it WooCommerce never reduces stock, and Stockpool doesn't either.

What it works with

  • Simple products, variable products and their variations. Grouped products work too: each product in the group sells from its own pools.
  • Classic themes and block themes, the classic cart and checkout and the cart and checkout blocks. The cart limits and checkout reservations run in both.
  • High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS). Stockpool declares itself compatible.
  • Products that track their own stock. Both limits then apply: the product sells until either its own stock or a pool runs out.
  • Gridline, Extendiment's bulk product editor, which gets a column for pool links (see Bulk linking with Gridline).

What it adds to your site

  • Three database tables: the pools, their stock history, and the stock held for orders in checkout.
  • A little product meta on linked products (their pool links) and on order items (which pools they took stock from).
  • No scheduled tasks of its own: expired checkout holds are cleared with WooCommerce's daily cleanup.
  • No external requests.
