Installation
Install Stockpool from WordPress.org, create your first shared stock pool and link the products that sell from it.
Stockpool is free and listed on WordPress.org, so you can install it straight from your dashboard.
Install the plugin
- Make sure WooCommerce is installed and active. Stockpool won't activate without it.
- Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin and search for Stockpool.
- Click Install Now on "Stockpool – Shared Stock for WooCommerce", then Activate.
If you have the zip file instead, use Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the file, then Install Now and Activate.
Nothing changes on your store yet: until a product is linked to a pool, it sells exactly as before.
Create your first pool
A pool is one stock count that several products share: a roll of fabric, a box of mug blanks, a limited run.
- Go to Products → Shared stock and click Create your first pool.
- Give it a name, such as "Navy cotton jersey".
- Under Stock you have now, enter what's on the shelf, and if you like a Unit such as
m,kgorpcs. Decimals are fine: 12.5 m. - Click Create pool.
Link the products that use it
- Edit a product that's made from the pool and open its Inventory tab.
- Under Shared stock, click Add a pool, choose the pool and enter how much one item uses, such as 2 for a hoodie that takes 2 m of fabric.
- Click Update.
Do the same for every product that uses the pool. A variable product's pools apply to all its variations; a variation can have pools of its own instead (see Linking products to pools).

Now open the product page on your store: the stock line shows how many the pool can still make, and the quantity field stops there.
Tip
Back on the pool's page, Used by lists every product that sells from it, how many each can still sell, and which runs out first. It's the quickest way to check you linked everything.
What's next
- Shared stock pools covers units, backorders and the low stock alert.
- What shoppers see explains the stock line, the cart and checkout.
