# FAQ - Stockpool 1.x documentation

> Short answers about products' own stock, variations, old orders, speed, translations and your data.

## Do products still need their own stock?

No. A product that doesn't track its own stock sells purely from its pools, and its stock status follows them. If it does track its own stock, both limits apply.

## Can a variation use a different amount than another?

Yes. Add the pool in each variation's panel with its own amount.

## What if I change a product's pools after orders were placed?

Each order line remembers the pools it took from, so cancellations and refunds give stock back to the same pools.

## Does it work with the cart and checkout blocks?

Yes. The cart limits and the checkout hold run in the block cart and checkout as in the classic ones.

## Will it slow down my shop?

No noticeably. Pools are loaded once per page and matched in memory. Finding the products that use a pool only happens when the pool's stock or settings change.

## Can I link products by attribute, make kits, or import pools?

Those are part of Stockpool Pro, a separate paid add-on: attribute rules, kits made from other pools, bundle plugin support and CSV import. Everything in these pages works without it.

## Can I translate Stockpool?

Yes, on [translate.wordpress.org](https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/stockpool/). The template is also included as `languages/stockpool.pot` for tools such as Poedit or Loco Translate.

## What happens to my data if I delete Stockpool?

When you click **Deactivate** on the Plugins screen, Stockpool asks what should happen to its data if you then delete the plugin:

- **Keep it** (the default): your pools, their history and the product links are all still there if you install Stockpool again.
- **Delete it permanently when the plugin is deleted**: deleting the plugin removes the pools (with any rules and kit parts saved on them), their history and holds, the pool links on products and the pool records on order items.

Deactivating alone never removes anything. Your products keep the stock status they have, and your orders and their notes are never deleted.
