# Requirements - Sheetline 1.x documentation

> The WordPress and PHP versions Sheetline needs, who can use it, and what it edits.

- **WordPress** 6.5 or later (tested up to 7.1)
- **PHP** 7.4 or later
- A current browser with JavaScript on. The grid runs in your browser.

No other plugin is needed. Sheetline works with any theme, the block editor or the classic editor.

## Who can use it

Anyone who can edit posts sees **Posts → Bulk Editor**, and anyone who can edit pages sees **Pages → Bulk Editor**: administrators, editors and authors for posts, and administrators and editors for pages, by default. Contributors can use it for their own drafts.

What each person can change follows their role, exactly as on the edit screen:

- Posts you aren't allowed to edit, for example someone else's post when you're an author, are shown read-only (greyed).
- Only people who can publish can set a post to **Published**, **Scheduled** or **Private**. Others can choose **Draft** or **Pending review**.
- Only people who can edit other people's posts can change the **Author** or make a post **Sticky**.
- Categories and tags can only be changed by people who may assign them.

Each save checks every post again, so a role changed by another plugin is respected too.

## What it edits

- **Posts**, with their title, slug, status, date, author, categories, tags, excerpt, comments, sticky flag and (with a theme that supports them) post format.
- **Pages**, with their title, slug, status, date, author, parent, order, comments and (with a theme that has them) template.

Drafts, scheduled, pending and private posts are listed with published ones. Trashed posts aren't. Custom post types, custom fields, featured images and SEO fields are part of Sheetline Pro.

## Works with

- **Revisions.** A changed title or excerpt is saved as a revision, so you can compare and restore it from the post's own screen.
- **Post locking.** A post someone else has open in the editor is shown with a lock and isn't changed until they're done.
- **Other plugins that react to saves**, such as caches, search indexes and SEO plugins. Each post is saved through WordPress once, as the editor does, so their hooks run as usual.
- **Large sites.** The grid loads one page at a time (10 to 200 posts, your choice), and search and filters run on the server.

## Nothing else to set up

Sheetline adds no database tables, scheduled tasks or external requests. It stores only each user's Screen Options (columns shown and posts per page), as WordPress does for its own lists.
