# Installing Roleline Pro - Roleline 1.x documentation

> Add Roleline Pro to a site that runs Roleline, and where its features appear.

> [!NOTE]
> This is part of **Roleline Pro**.

Roleline Pro is an add-on: it needs the free **Roleline** plugin, which keeps doing everything it does.

## Install

1. Make sure **Roleline** is installed and active (Plugins → Add New Plugin, search for Roleline).
2. Download `roleline-pro.zip` from your purchase email or your account on extendiment.com.
3. Go to **Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin**, choose the zip, then **Install Now** and **Activate**.
4. Enter your license key under Roleline Pro on the Plugins screen, so updates arrive (see **Licenses and updates**).

WordPress won't activate Roleline Pro without Roleline, and won't deactivate Roleline while Roleline Pro is active.

## Where to find it

- An **Access** box beside the editor of posts, pages and other public content, and **Access** fields on categories and tags.
- A **Visibility** panel in every block's settings in the block editor.
- **Show to** under each item on **Appearance → Menus**.
- **Until** dates next to the roles on a user's profile.
- New tabs on **Users → Roles**: **Content access**, **Login redirects**, **Compare** and **Capability usage**.

## If you deactivate it

Its rules stay saved but aren't applied until it's active again: restricted content, blocks and menu items are visible to everyone, login redirects stop and temporary roles don't end. Roleline lists what's affected under Users → Roles. When you click **Deactivate**, Roleline Pro says so and asks whether its data should be kept if you later delete it.
