# Frequently asked questions - Returnline 1.x documentation

> Short answers about refunds, stock, guests, exchanges, translations and removing Returnline.

## Does Returnline change how refunds work?

No. Every refund is a normal WooCommerce refund on the order, the same as one you'd make from the order screen. Returnline adds the steps before it (request, approval, receiving) and works out the amount for you.

## Can customers return part of an order, or the same order twice?

Yes. They choose items and quantities, and can come back later for the rest while the window is open. Items already refunded or in an open return can't be returned again.

## Can customers without an account request returns?

Not by themselves with Returnline alone: requests come from My Account. Create the return for them from the order screen. Returnline Pro adds a Returns page where customers find their order by its number and email address.

## Can customers ask for an exchange or store credit?

Those are part of Returnline Pro, a separate paid add-on, which also adds customer photos and return labels. See [extendiment.com/plugins/returnline](https://extendiment.com/plugins/returnline).

## Does it work with my payment gateway?

Any gateway works: Returnline records the refund in WooCommerce. Gateways that support automatic refunds also send the money back.

## Does it slow down my store?

No noticeably. Returns are kept in their own small tables, and the storefront only loads a small stylesheet and script on account pages.

## Can I translate Returnline?

Returnline's screens and emails are translated on [translate.wordpress.org](https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/returnline/), and WordPress installs the language packs for you. Your own texts (reasons, instructions, email subjects) are settings: translate them with your multilingual plugin's string translation.

## What happens to my data if I deactivate or delete Returnline?

Deactivating never removes anything. When you click **Deactivate**, Returnline asks what should happen to its data if you later delete the plugin:

- **Keep it** (the default): your returns, their timelines and your policy are all still there if you install Returnline again.
- **Delete it permanently when the plugin is deleted**: the returns, the policy and email settings, and the "Not returnable" setting on products are removed when you delete the plugin.

Your orders and refunds are never deleted. Returnline Pro's data (such as customers' photos and its settings) is kept or removed by Returnline Pro's own prompt.
