# Changing the release date - Preorderline 1.x documentation

> Move a release date and every customer waiting for the product hears about it.

Plans change. When a product's release date moves, change it on its **Pre-order** tab and click **Update**.

Every customer with a pre-order of the product still waiting gets the **Pre-order date changed** email, with the new date, and their order's items show the new date too. A customer with several waiting items of the product gets one email.

## Variations

- Changing the product's date tells the customers of every variation that uses the product's date.
- Changing a variation's own date tells only that variation's customers. That includes giving a variation its own date for the first time: its customers get the new date, and from then on their orders are released with the variation.

## Removing the date

Empty the date and update the product. Customers are told the release date has changed and isn't set yet, and that you'll let them know when it's on its way.

## When no email goes out

- The date didn't actually change (saving the product again with the same date).
- Nobody is waiting: nothing has been pre-ordered yet, or every order was released.
- The **Pre-order date changed** email is switched off under **WooCommerce → Settings → Emails**.
