# Installation - Folioline 1.x documentation

> Install Folioline from your purchase, activate the license, fill in your seller details and issue your first invoice.

Folioline comes as a zip file with your purchase from extendiment.com.

## Install the plugin

1. Make sure WooCommerce is installed and active. Folioline won't activate without it.
2. Download `folioline.zip` from your purchase email or your account on extendiment.com.
3. Go to **Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin**, choose the zip, then **Install Now** and **Activate**.
4. Enter your license key under Folioline on the Plugins screen, so updates arrive (see [Licenses and updates](licenses-and-updates)).

Activating Folioline adds:

- **WooCommerce → Invoices**: every invoice and credit note, the registers for your accountant and the OSS report.
- **WooCommerce → Folioline**: the settings.
- A **Documents** box and a **VAT** box on the order screen, and an **Invoice** column and an **Issue invoices** bulk action on the orders list.
- A **VAT number** field in the Checkout block, the classic checkout and My Account → Addresses.
- **Invoice** buttons and a **Documents** table in My Account → Orders.

Your orders, products and tax rates aren't changed. Folioline doesn't issue invoices for orders placed before it was activated, unless you ask it to.

## Before the first invoice

An issued invoice never changes, so set up what goes on it first.

1. Check your store address under **WooCommerce → Settings → General**. It is the seller address on every invoice.
2. Go to **WooCommerce → Folioline**. On the **Seller** tab, fill in your **Company name**, **VAT ID**, and, if your country asks for them, **Tax number** and **Commercial register**. Add your **Email**, **Phone**, bank details and **Logo**.
3. On the **Numbering** tab, check the **Invoice number** format. The preview shows the next number.
4. On the **Documents** tab, check **Issue invoices at**: Processing and Completed are ticked to start with.
5. Click **Save Changes**.

> [!TIP]
> Moving from another invoicing tool? Set **First invoice number** on the **Numbering** tab to the number after your last invoice, so the series carries on.

## Your first invoice

Place a test order, or take an order that is waiting, and mark it **Processing** or **Completed**. Folioline issues its invoice straight away:

- an order note says "Invoice INV-2026-00001 issued.";
- the **Documents** box on the order screen shows the invoice with links to its PDF;
- the invoice PDF goes with the customer's Processing order or Completed order email.

For orders that already had those statuses before you installed Folioline, select them on the orders list and choose **Issue invoices** from **Bulk actions**.

## What's next

- [Settings](settings): every setting, tab by tab.
- [Invoices and numbering](invoices-and-numbering): when invoices are issued, and how numbers work.
- [VAT numbers and reverse charge](vat-numbers-and-reverse-charge): business customers in other EU countries.
- [Emails and My Account](emails-and-my-account): how invoices reach your customers.
