# Free shipping - Discountline 1.x documentation

> Make your own shipping rates free once the order reaches a minimum spend: all of them, or only the cheapest.

> [!NOTE]
> This is part of **Discountline Pro**.

A free shipping rule makes your existing shipping rates cost nothing once the cart qualifies: "Free shipping over $75". There's no special shipping method to set up; your zones and rates stay as they are.

## Set it up

1. Add a rule and choose **Free shipping**.
2. **Minimum spend**: counted on the products the rule covers, after other discounts. 0 makes shipping always free (for covered products).
3. **Free shipping on**:
   - **All shipping methods**: every rate becomes free.
   - **Only the cheapest method that costs something**: the cheapest paid rate becomes free, and faster options keep their price ("free standard shipping, express $18").
4. Optional: limit it to some products or categories in **Applies to**, or to some countries in **Customers and schedule**.
5. Publish.

## Local pickup and other free rates

Rates that already cost nothing, such as **Local pickup**, are left as they are and don't count as "the cheapest": with Standard $8, Express $18 and Local pickup $0, "only the cheapest" makes Standard free.

## What shoppers see

- Free rates show as free in the cart and at checkout, in the classic cart and the Cart and Checkout blocks.
- Until the cart qualifies, a nudge says how much is left: "Add $20.00 more for free shipping." See **Countdowns and nudges**.
- The order's shipping line records the rule and the cost before it, which counts towards the rule's results.

When several free shipping rules qualify, the first by priority applies.
