# Importing from another deposits plugin - Depositline 1.x documentation

> Move product settings, the store-wide deposit and open balances over from WooCommerce Deposits or WooCommerce Deposits by Webtomizer.

Coming from **WooCommerce Deposits** or **WooCommerce Deposits by Webtomizer**? Depositline can take over their product settings and the orders whose balance is still open, from the data they saved. Their plugin can already be deleted.

## Import

1. Deactivate the other deposits plugin under **Plugins**. Depositline pauses while it's active, and the import waits for it.
2. Go to **WooCommerce → Depositline** and scroll down to **Import**.
3. Check what was found:
   - **Products and variations with a deposit setting**
   - **Store-wide deposit**: the plugin it comes from, or "None (or Depositline's is already set)"
   - **Orders with an open balance**
4. Click **Import**.

A notice says what was done, for example "Imported: 12 product settings and 4 open balances."

When there's nothing to import, the section says "Nothing to import." While the other plugin is still active, it says "Deactivate … before importing."

## What's imported

- **Product and variation settings**: deposit on, optional or required, with a percentage or fixed amount. Only where Depositline has no setting yet, so nothing you've set is overwritten. Webtomizer products that follow its store-wide setting are skipped; they follow Depositline's.
- **The store-wide deposit**: only if you haven't saved Depositline's settings yet.
- **Open balances**: orders whose deposit is paid and whose balance isn't. Each becomes a Depositline deposit order in **Partially paid**, with a balance order, a due date, and the note "Imported from …". Its **Deposit** box says "Imported from …" too. No emails are sent while importing. A WooCommerce Deposits "remaining balance" order that's still unpaid becomes the balance order, instead of a new one.

An imported balance is due the **Balance due** number of days after its deposit was paid, or today if that date has passed. Its reminders start from there, so a balance due today gets its payment link right away. (Imported balances are paid by link or from My Account, not charged to a saved card.) To give customers more time, set **Balance due** higher before you import, or move single due dates on the order screen afterwards (see [Deposits on the order screen](deposits-on-the-order-screen)).

> [!NOTE]
> Payment plans (several scheduled payments) aren't imported. An order already **Processing**, **Completed** or **On hold** keeps its status and gets a note, with its balance order made as for the others.

Running the import again skips what's already imported, so it's safe to click **Import** twice.

## From the command line

With WP-CLI:

```bash
wp depositline import --dry-run   # says what would be imported
wp depositline import             # imports it
```

It needs the other plugin deactivated too, and reports "Imported 12 product settings and 4 open balances (0 skipped)."
