# FAQ - Adminline 1.x documentation

> Short answers to common questions about Adminline.

## Does Adminline change roles or capabilities?

No. It decides what the admin menu shows. What people may do stays up to their roles' capabilities; use a role editor for those.

## Does hiding an item stop people opening the screen?

Only with **Hidden and blocked**, and only for the item's own screens: screens reached from them, such as editing a single post, aren't blocked. **Hidden only** takes the item out of the menu; the screen still opens from a link.

## Can I hide items for one person?

Per-user menu changes are part of Adminline Pro. Adminline hides items from roles.

## Does it work with WooCommerce?

Yes, and with any plugin's menu. WooCommerce's order counts stay on renamed items.

## Will my changes survive plugin updates?

Yes. Items are recognised by their address, so updates that rename them don't matter. New items appear where their plugin puts them.

## Is the admin slower?

No. Adminline reads one saved setting and rearranges the menu that WordPress has already built, once per page.

## Does it work on multisite?

Each site's admin menu can be edited on that site. Network Admin's menu isn't changed.

## What happens if I deactivate Adminline?

The menu goes back to the way WordPress and your plugins set it up. Your changes are kept and come back when you activate Adminline again. When you deactivate it, you're asked whether its data should be deleted if you then delete the plugin; keeping it is the default.

## What does Adminline Pro add?

A white label (login page logo and background, admin bar logo, footer and greeting, your own colour scheme), dashboard widgets hidden or added by role, a simplified client mode, per-user menu changes, and hiding plugins from the Plugins list.
