# Colour schemes - Adminline 1.x documentation

> Build an admin colour scheme in your client's colours, and choose who uses it.

> [!NOTE]
> This is part of **Adminline Pro**.

WordPress comes with a handful of admin colour schemes (Default, Light, Modern, Blue…), chosen by each person under **Users → Profile**. Adminline Pro adds one of your own.

## Building the scheme

On **Settings → Admin Menu → White label**, under **Colour scheme**:

1. Tick **Add my colour scheme**.
2. Give it a **Name**, such as your client's brand. That's how it's listed under Users → Profile.
3. Choose four colours:
   - **Menu background**: the admin menu and the admin bar;
   - **Menu text**: their text;
   - **Highlight**: the current menu item, menu items under the pointer, buttons and links in the admin;
   - **Notification bubbles**: the counts on menu items.
4. Choose **Who uses it** (below), and click **Save Changes**.

Adminline Pro works out the in-between shades from your colours the way WordPress does for its own schemes: a darker background for submenus, a soft icon colour, darker shades of the highlight for buttons being pressed, and black or white text on the highlight and on the bubbles, whichever reads better.

## Who uses it

- **People who choose it in their profile**: it's one more choice under Users → Profile.
- **Everyone**: everyone gets it, whatever they chose.
- **Everyone with these roles**: tick the roles, for example Shop Manager, so your client's team always works in their brand, while you keep your own colours.

When the scheme is used for someone whatever they chose, their choice under Users → Profile is kept and comes back if you change this setting.

## Turning it off

Untick **Add my colour scheme**. People who had chosen it get WordPress's default scheme. If Adminline Pro is deactivated, the same happens until it's active again.
